From the new Gazipasa Airport to the center of Alanya, only about 40 km on the high-speed highway and to the popular recreation place of Mahmutlar only 30 km. Formally, Gazipasa airport started operating in 2010, but it accepted aircrafts mainly from Turkish airlines that operated domestic flights.
The situation dramatically changed in 2015, when the complex reconstruction of the airport was completed. First of all, the runway (up to 2500 m) was increased by 500 meters towards the sea. To do this, they had to build a tunnel for the state route Antalya - Mersin under its new site. Now, at the airport of Alanya - Gazipasa, any medium and long-range aircraft can take off and land, and in all weather conditions.
The total area of the passenger terminal building has been increased three times and is 6400 sqm. The number of passport control racks has been increased from 5 to 14; the capacity of border control has increased almost threefold. The estimated volume of passenger traffic of Alanya Gazipasa Airport is 1.5 million people per year. And, of course, there are ATMs, a cafe, a restaurant, and duty-free shops operate in the zone of international departures.
For today the airport accepts regular flights from more than 10 countries of Europe. And during the tourist season, a large number of charters are added to them.
Domestic flights Alanya is connected with the capital of Turkey Ankara, Istanbul (Airports Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Istanbul Ataturk Airport) and the city of Adana.
